September 12, 2008

I know...long time no update. I'll update briefly then give details in next few days. The goal is to still update frequently so each posting is not too long.

September 12th - Happy Birthday Joy! Joy and I have been friends since we were toddlers. We share memories from childhood pranks and older siblings picking on us, countless summers at Tahoe, junior high where we were so cool in our dessert boots and cordory bell bottoms, high school football games, passing notes, lunches and constant phone calls who knows what we talked about for hours and hours.

Last Saturday went to Mary and William's wedding. It was a lovely ceremony and beautiful wedding. Very classy, just like Mary. I worked with Mary the last 3 years at child support. I also got to catch up with former co-workers.

I enjoyed watching Olympics and really watched more than past years. And can we get enough of Michael Phelps! Can you imagine how much his life has changed in the last 30 days? I saw him on talk show this week and he said he hasn't been home yet; he went from China to appearance after appearance.

After Olympics came the conventions. Like has been said, no matter what party wins, it will be historic. For me I realized it will be historic for another reason. No matter what party wins, for the first time in my life, either the president or vice-president will be younger than me. It was an ah ha moment and you know you're old when....

The last 2 weeks the respitory therapist has been to see me 4 times. I'll save the details for later. I hope things are on track now and my breathing gets better. Erin is coming home for the weekend so more to follow next week.

First Attempt at Blogging

OK, I'm going to attempt to enter 21st century and start a blog!! In May, I met Peggy Chun, famous Hawaiian watercolor artist, while I was on vacation in Hawaii. Peggy also has ALS and her family uses a blog to share how Peggy is doing and what's new. I thought that was a great idea so............

Russell (my new son-in-law) and Erin were here this weekend and Russell set up the blog. I'll update postings weekly. Yesterday Erin and I went to Jen's bridal shower. It was a very nice shower and got to see a lot of Eric's family which is always fun and full of laughs. Highlight was meeting the newest member, 1 month old Evan. We all had dinner at Eric's later and I got to hold Evan and have him fall asleep in my lap!! Erin also held him and looked pretty natural...no pressure yet for a grandbaby, hah! BTW dinner was Eric's homemade fried chicken, rice balls, sloughhouse fresh corn, salad and cake and cheesecake for dessert. Yes, I still can eat little bites and even though it's hard and takes me a while, I love the taste and texture so I only eat what I love. For nutrition and calories I use my feeding tube and dr's formula. This morning breakfast was over at Russ and Linda's for Linda's famous waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, fresh strawberries and melons. Food is always part of the family gathering. Erin and Russell had to leave about 4 to get back home. Erin started teaching 3rd grade August 18th. This is her 2nd year and she continues to work long days preparing lesson plans and activities. Russell is continuing his work as staff member of Invervarsity at Sonoma State. Until next time, Aloha!
